Situated on the northeast coast of County Down, Donaghadee offers year-round visual delights and fresh sea air. The picturesque Donaghadee Harbour and Lighthouse are local favourites, where visitors enjoy watching fishing boats and sunset views over Belfast Lough. The lighthouse, built in 1836 and still operational, is an iconic landmark. History lovers will appreciate the Donaghadee Moat and Camera Obscura—a Norman motte crowned by an early 19th‑century gunpowder store, now home to Ireland’s only accessible Camera Obscura. The Moat is open seasonally and free to enter. Grace Neill’s pub, dating back to 1611, is believed to be Ireland’s oldest licensed pub. With stone flooring and ship-beam interiors it’s full of character and local stories.
