A truly unique and unforgettable place to stay, located only 40min from Scotland's capital city, Edinburgh, yet surrounded by empty drove, forest and hill tracks for walking, hiking and biking leading literally from the garden gate: no roads, no traffic noise, no neighbours, just peace, quiet, wildlife and stars. The cottage interior has been personally and painstakingly renovated and curated by the owner over the past few years to strike a balance between original features, function and vibrant design, creating a gorgeous series of spaces to curl up and enjoy the elements when they're too wild to be experienced in person. A magnificent original stone fireplace houses a state of the art woodburner for long autumn and winter nights in front of the fire, while biomass central heating keeps the rest of the cottage warm. Completely off-grid, the cottage is supplied by electricity via a solar array backed up by a generator in winter, while hot water is supplied via a combination of biomass and solar thermal. The very generous, mature gardens are completely fenced and secure for dogs (cats also very welcome!), and largely left to grow wild for biodiversity, with seating/lounging areas at the front of the cottage and a dining area in the enclosed back garden. Secure bike storage, longer stays available, perfect for creatives looking to concentrate on long term projects away from distraction and digital nomads looking to get away from the city for a while.
