Hayden’s is run by Richard and Kate Hayden with a lot of help from Kate’s parents, John and Sheila Luck. After ten years of muddling through the commuter torment of London life, we decided to abandon the capital in favour of a new venture. Determined to set up an eco-friendly business, we opened Hayden’s on Christmas Eve of 2005.

At Hayden’s we are striving to reduce the impact our business has on the environment, both social and physical. We do this by selecting Fairtrade and organic products. We support Fairtrade because we believe it gives farmers in the developing world a better deal. We also believe organic food is better for you and the environment and we are working to include more and more on our menu.

We love the unique history of Rye. The sound and light show at the Rye Town Model (inside the Heritage centre) is really worth a look before touring the town. From ghost walks, smuggler and murder stories to kite-surfing at the local beach, cycling and walking, there is much to do in the vicinity. For a quieter more relaxed time, there are some 20 pubs and restaurants all within walking distance of Hayden's, all with different styles and atmospheres. Choose al fresco dining in the summer or snuggle by an open fire in the winter. Many of the eateries partake in wild boar week in the Autumn and Rye Scallop week in early spring. Along with lots of unique and independent shops, other attractions we use regularly include the new two-screen digital cinema (Kino Rye), the Rye Retreat hair and beauty salon and the local swimming pool and gym. Whatever your interests, Rye is magical at all times of the year!
