Heart Of Hawes Holiday Cottage is a 200 year old premium holiday cottage set in a quiet set back and elevated location at the very centre of Hawes. The Pennine Way is right on our doorstep, and almost all the shops, eateries, pubs and towns facilities are within five minutes walk from the cottage .You are two minutes walk from open countryside. Three large sized bedrooms, two with king sized beds, and one a good sized single. Each bedroom has premium quality mattresses and bedding, and across the bedrooms you will find a wardrobe, lots of drawer storage, mirrors, dressing table, hooks and hangars, blackout curtains, good quality carpeting, and beautiful art on the walls. The living room is large with a beautiful feature inglenook fireplace and log burner. Imagine winter evening's with the warmth and light of the fire. Complimenting this is a natural old oak dresser (containing lots of board games and jigsaws), full length curtains and a mixture of quality leather and fabric seating). Includes a Flat screen smart TV (please log in to your own screening accounts). The kitchen / diner is well stocked, with oven, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, table seating for five guests, and has both a window and a kitchen door opening externally into the cottage garden. We have a gated area in the garden for you to allow dogs and small children to be contained. Up five steps and you are on our raised patio and lawn which is a real sunspot. The annex is off the garden and it contains a washing machine. dryer, freezer, and this is also a secure bike store. The entrance hall has coat hanging space, a pew for sitting down to take boots and shoes on and off and a dog station with bowls, dog towels, treats and litter bags for your use. We have a warm modern bathroom, with corner shower, basin, WC, heated towel rail, hooks, mirror and shaver point. Hawes has a lot of street parking and two large public car parks within five minutes walk of the cottage.
We are both Yorkshire born and Stuart’s family line goes back through Hawes for many generations. We love Hawes and The Dales. We’ve explored, walked / hiked, run, cycled and holidayed here for over 50 years. We love sharing our passion for the area. We work really hard for our guests...we're very happy to offer recommendations and advice. We have a 35 page bespoke 'Things To Do' document with hyperlinks we will send you, trying to share the little nuances of things to do that really show the area to its best. Nothing is too much effort for us. We'd also mention our housekeepers, They are brilliant, they care, and you'll find a warm, very clean, beautifully presented house on arrival, and they are also on hand to help as required. We are lucky to have them alongside us and as our friends.
Within Hawes you will find eateries, pubs, shops visitor centre / museum & Wensleydale Cheese Experience. Its a haven after a day out exploring, and you will be very happy at our location at the centre of things yet so incredibly quiet. Hawes is central for exploring Wensleydale, Swaledale, Wharfedale, Makhamdale, & Ribblesdale & there’s over 100 things to do within an hours drive; • Beautiful scenic walks / runs in ‘All Creatures Great & Small’ countryside. Perfect location for tackling The Yorkshire Three Peaks, The Pennine Way (passes our front door), and The Herriot’s Way. • Some of the best waterfalls in the UK are at hand including Hardraw Force, Aysgarth Falls, & Ingleton Waterfall Trail. •Malham Cove and limestone pavement. •Alpaca walking, wild swimming at Lake Semerwater, & a red squirrel reserve at Snaizeholme. •Road, MTB, & family cycling, with bike hire available. •White Scar Caves, Ribblehead Viaduct and heritage railways. •Visit the sheep trial display (Thursday evenings) or the sheep sales at Hawes Cattle Market. • Traditional country pubs with open fires. • Culture with lots of art galleries, festivals, and theatre. • Bolton, Jervaux & Fountains Abbeys, and Bolton, Middleton & Richmond Castles. • Starlit skies. We’re in a Dark Skies area. A beautiful place for a holiday! How long should you come for. There's enough to spend two weeks here easily, and if you're travelling a long way to come we would recommend a minimum of four nights stay. In the property you will find maps, a map case, and lots of books and leaflets about the area. You don't need to be super active to visit the area. There are lots of little places of interest within a short distance of parking and some great traditional pubs for lazy afternoons and evenings by a real fire.
