Fab mountain getaway location right at the foot of Helvellyn, the closest residential home to Helvellyn Summit on the Ullswater (East) side.
Ideal location at the foot of the Helvellyn. Ideal for hikers, climbers, skiers. Twin beds or a double bed / private shower room. We are happy for super early starts for your day.
PLEASE ENSURE YOU ARE QUIET IN THE ROOM BY 10:30PM. We are a family in the main house, so do not tolerate music or loud voices after 10:30pm, Shouting is absolutely not tolerated as we have other guests at the property. If you are noisey we may knock on your door and ask you to be quieter. Early starts are absolutely fine.
This is a lovely spacious room with its own steep stairs & entrance & small fridge/kettle and the basics to prepare cold food/salads. (salad bowls, knives, cheese boards etc)
Close to Coast-To-Coast route. If host if around there maybe possibility of being collected off the route by arrangement in advance.
I would be delighted to offer help with hiking routes, or indeed guide you in the fells, as this is my job with my buisness Hiking Highs. we have a website if you would like to know more. I also teach lots of Navigation... and efficiency with poles in the fells and other 'hill skills'. Just drop me a message if you would like info. my friends also have a fab business Ullswater eBikes... a great day out idea for you. Please let me know if you need route advice as i am not always at home but out on the fells.
Set in the heart of the Glenridding Valley, 1.5km up a track (suitable for cars if not very low to the ground), next to Helvellyn YHA, Glenridding Beck runs past the garden and can be heard all the time, at the foot of Helvellyn, in Greenside Mines. Ullswater Steamers at bottom of track, alongside a minimart and super corner shop to buy your supplies, NB these close at 6:30 in Winter... 9 or 10pm in busy periods. Local Pub, The Travellers Rest, serves great food in the village.
Plenty of parking. There is a Train Station in Penrith and hourly buses to Glenridding if you do not have a car. It is a 20minute walk up from the bus stop, pretty much flat but a 2 minute steep hill at the start out of the village. Your host may be able to pick you up by arrangement to take you up the track. Ullswater Steamers from Pooley Bridge also a transport option, although be careful they do not run in high winds.
