I purchased Little Chequers in November 2013. I love it here and the surrounding area, it is so relaxing and there are so many lovely places to visit within just a short drive. I hope to spend as much time here as I can in-between bookings!

Friston is a pretty quiet village, it lays approximately four miles inland of Aldeburgh and our village is relatively unique in that most of the village and much of the surrounding area was still under the ownership of the local manor until the early part of the last century. Indeed, there is a document in existence recording the purchase of the freehold of one cottage in 1909 for 12/6d (about 62.5p in decimal coinage!). The Church of St Mary the Virgin dominates the village, parts of which date from the 11th century, the main body of the building being from the 14th and 15th century. There is also a Baptist Church in Mill Lane. The Village green boasts a well-equipped children’s playground and there is a village hall opposite the church. The Windmill that can be seen from our back garden is situated in Mill Lane, the mill is the tallest post mill in England at 55 feet high, the mill closed in 1973 and the sails have been removed, but it’s still worth a walk round to see, it’s a really interesting old building.
