The double bedroom : Step back in time and enjoy a stay in one of the oldest parts of our 17th-century cottage. This double bedroom is full of period charm, with original features that reflect the building’s rich history. The en-suite bathroom has a low ceiling, typical of cottages from this era, it adds to the cosy, authentic atmosphere of the space.
Perfect for guests who appreciate heritage, character, and a truly unique stay in a centuries-old home. Please note that due to the character of the space, guests taller than 170cm (5'7") may find the shower area a bit snug—but many find it part of the charm of staying in a quirky, historic home!
The single bedroom : It is tucked away at the top of the house, giving it a peaceful, private feel—like your own little hideaway. With its sloped ceilings and unique layout, it has a cosy, attic-style charm that's full of character. This cozy room includes its own private bathroom located just a few steps outside the room. It’s exclusively for your use—not shared with other guests—so you can enjoy complete privacy. The bathroom is well-equipped, spotless, and easily accessible, making it a comfortable and convenient choice for your stay.

We're just a short drive from Stansted Airport—conveniently close (around 8 minutes), yet pleasantly peaceful. Despite being near the runway, you’ll be surprised by how little aircraft noise reaches us.
The charming market town of Bishop’s Stortford is also just 5 minutes away by car, offering a great selection of shops, cafés, and excellent transport links. While our village doesn’t have any shops, it does have a traditional English pub and a friendly local social club—perfect for unwinding in the evening and enjoying a taste of village life.
We’re particularly well-suited for guests travelling by car. Located just minutes from the M11, Junction 8, we offer easy access to both London and Cambridge. Free parking is available on site.
We’re also ideally placed for exploring the local area: the historic town of Saffron Walden, with its beautiful medieval streets and independent shops, is just a short drive away. The world-renowned Imperial War Museum at Duxford is also close by.
