If you prefer to stay on land, there are some great local walks and Battery Park - a lovely open green space - is a short walk away. There is also a lovely deli which offers fresh bread daily, a local butcher and Local Sainsbury's amongst others along with independent art/gift shops featuring local and Scottish artist's unique works and independent clothes shops. Transport links are good from Gourock Station into Glasgow Centre and a ferry to Dunoon, or Kilcreggan, which is a lovely quiet village on the Rosneath Peninsula with great views and walks and you can catch this from behind the rail station.
