WESTWARD HO! Westward Ho! beach is a 10 minute leisurely walk from Thorndale, and offers something for everyone, you will not be disappointed! It is the perfect destination with just over two miles of golden sands at low water, with the prestigious Blue Flag award for facilities and water quality. It has very few rip tides or under water beach obstructions, it's one of the safest beaches in Devon. The Westward Ho! sea pool is popular in the summer which is brilliantly positioned witihin the Rock Pools. In addition the wreck of the 18th century merchant ship the 'Sally', can be seen at low tide. The village, promenade and redeveloped village green, which is only a 10 minute walk from Thorndale, offers a wide selection of quality places to eat such as 'Morans' 'Pig on the beach' and the 'Pier house' just to name a few. You are spoilt for choice when it comes to fish and chips and, importantly, ice cream on the beach front and in the village. If you enjoy water sports, Westward Ho! is perfect for surfing, paddleboarding, windsurfing, kitesurfing, SUPing, body boarding, and kayaking. There are several places to hire equipment and book in for lessons near the beach front.
