Just on the doorstep of the North York Moors National Park, roughly 30 miles north-east of the city of York. Less than 5 miles north of Pickering, you’ll have plenty to do and explore right on your doorstep. Head 3 miles north of the village and you’ll find Cropton Forest, with plenty of great walks available. Travel another 18 miles and you’ll reach the fishing town of Whitby or you can travel there by steam train on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, taking in some beautiful moorland scenery on the way. A little further down the coast is Scarborough (23 miles) with its two sandy beaches, amusements and castle. In the village there is a lovely park, great for any children to explore. There is also a pond opposite the site and a pub next door.
