About this property
A charming English manor house close to the A1 road. WiFi is free in public areas and food is served all day. Built on foundations which date back to the 12th Century, the hotel is reputed to have been Henry VIII’s hunting lodge and home to the Eden family. It houses secret passages and even a friendly ghost or two! Set in its own landscaped grounds and equipped with multi-functional rooms, it is an ideal base for exploring County Durham's many attractions. These include Durham Cathedral and Castle, the Durham Dales, Bishop Auckland, and Barnard Castle. The Manor House Hotel is a dog friendly hotel and dogs are more than welcome to come into our bar/lounge/brasserie areas. We only have certain rooms that cater for dogs these are located in our courtyard and are our double or twin rooms. There is a £10 charge per night per dog, this can be added upon booking to settle on check in. Please notify the team as early as possible if you plan to bring your lovely dog with you. Please note that access to our spa facilities (including gym) is not included in your booking, but you are more than welcome to enjoy the recently refurbished facilities for a small charge of £20 per person, per day, per night, which includes spa access on day of arrival (and use of our sauna, steam room, pool, jacuzzi and relaxation area), as well as robe and towel hire.
Couples in particular like the location – they rated it 8.7 for a two-person trip.
