Located in Friston, Myrtle Cottage is a truly unique and enchanting cottage. In appearance a traditional Suffolk cottage, opening into a cosy, contemporary sitting room with a wood burning stove and then into an unexpectedly spacious, modern kitchen/dining area.

Friston is a small village situated between Saxmundham and Aldeburgh. The village has it’s own pub, The Old Chequers Inn within walking distance of Myrtle Cottage. A little further afield, Snape has several pubs serving excellent food including The Plough & Sail and the Golden Key. Snape is also home to the Maltings, now the world-renowned music centre hosting a festival and proms each year along with a wide variety of other events including a Food and Drink Festival. Aldeburgh is a ten minute drive from Friston and besides the beach has a busy High street with a number of independent shops. There are some excellent restaurants such as The Suffolk Sur Mer, The Regatta and The Lighthouse all serving fresh fish and local produce or try the fish and chips which seem to taste even better eaten on the beach. There are numerous walks from Friston including accessing the Sailors’ Path, which joins Aldeburgh and Snape meandering along the Alde Estuary. The peace and quiet of the area provides many opportunities for bird and wild life watching. The area is within the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Having had a busy day exploring the Suffolk countryside, head back to Myrtle Cottage where you can light the fire and enjoy relaxing in the peaceful surroundings.
