Property information

On arrival guests will be welcomed by a delicious hamper, including locally sourced wine from Poulton Hill vineyard and Cotswold fudge. Enjoy! Moreton Cottage is a charming 19th-century cottage in the heart of Moreton in Marsh, a thriving Cotswolds market town. With one king size bed and a twin room, the cottage comfortably sleeps four. The cottage is full of character, with exposed beams and beautiful Cotswold stone as an internal feature, together with a delightful private garden. The cottage has been upgraded, carefully balancing original wonderful features with a contemporary feel, and furnished to a superior standard throughout. The space Moreton Cottage was built in 1834 as a workman’s cottage for the nearby farm and manor. Moreton Manor House Hotel, just around the corner, was the original manor house in the area. Guests enter the property into the living room, which is carefully furnished in keeping with the character of the cottage. You will find a cosy log burner in the living area, as well as comfy sofas and Smart TV. Heading towards the rear of the cottage is the dining and kitchen space. The modern kitchen is fully equipped, including dishwasher, gas hob, microwave and coffee machine. The kitchen leads out to the private garden, a lovely space in the summer with flowers in full bloom! The garden has a relaxed tranquil feeling, a perfect way to unwind after a long day exploring. On the first floor of the cottage is the twin bedroom and modern family bathroom, with overhead shower. Heading up to the top floor, you will find the spacious master bedroom, with king sized bed and windows at each end of the bedroom providing views over the garden and surrounding area. Both bedrooms have blackout blinds and come with hotel quality crisp cotton sheets, fluffy towels for each guest and complementary toiletries. As this is a traditional Cotswold cottage, there are some low beams and steep stairs, so please be careful.

Moreton-in-Marsh is one of the principal market towns in the northern Cotswolds situated on the Fosse Way and now served by the main line railway from London Paddington. It grew up in the thirteenth century as a market town with a wide main street, narrow burgage plots and back lanes. There still is a busy Tuesday market with a wide variety of stalls attracting many visitors. There is no shortage of fabulous things to do and places to see in the Cotswolds. Here are few ideas to get you started: • Antique Shopping /Browsing • Batsford Arboretum and Garden Centre • Blenheim Palace • Chastleton House and Garden • Cheltenham Festival • Cotswold Falconry • Daylesford Farm • Hiking in the Cotswolds • Lemington Lakes • Longborough Festival Opera • Mill Dene Garden • Sezincote House and Garden • Wellington Aviation Museum There are a good number local places where you can enjoy some local food and drink. Here are a few of our favourites: Whether you are looking for a bite to eat with friends, a romantic dinner for two, the Manor House Hotel has an offering for every occasion. including a delightful courtyard patio amidst the beauty of the English country garden. A good pub for a local food and beer is the White Hart Royal Hotel on the High Street, The Bell Inn is also a good option to quench your thirst and have a bite to eat, whilst The Redesdale Arms is a splendid and sociable inn and pub. Locojos Pizza Takeaway and Delivery makes a delicious tasting pizza! Martha’s has wonderful home-made cakes and scones freshly baked on the premises and Yellow Brick Café has a great menu. I will provide a full list of recommendations in my guest manual kept in the cottage. Getting around The train station is a few minutes walk away, that has trains direct from London Paddington.
