No 96 Chapel Lane is an 160 year old 1 bedroom, self contained cottage annexed to our house, nestled in the heart of the picturesque village of Butleigh. Tastefully decorated in calming greens and cream with a nod to vintage style it is the perfect space to relax. Access is by lock box and the key code will be provided on booking confirmation. On your arrival there will be a welcome pack of milk, assorted teabags, coffee sachets, hot chocolate sachets, some chocolates and a packet of biscuits. Due to the nature of the narrow stairs the property is not suitable for children or anyone with mobility issues. There is also a small garden area with a table and chairs. We also provide a small library of books and some dvds or you can just sit and watch the birds outside on the bird feeder. Use if outdoor washing line available on request. Please note that due to the limited public transport options in this beautiful but rural location you will need a car to get around. The property is ideally situated for the vibrant, spiritual and alternative town of Glastonbury, the historic city of Wells and the beauty of the Somerset Levels. For those needing a retail fix Clarks Village retail outlet is only three miles away and for those who wish to experience the more urban vibes the cities of Bristol and Bath, are under an hour away. The seaside resorts of Weston-Super-Mare, Lyme Regis, West Bay ( a must for fans of the English TV series Broadchurch) and Budleigh Salterton are all within a reasonable driving distance for day trips. For those who love history we have many historic houses and places of interest within easy reach such as Stonehenge, Salisbury Cathedral, Lytes Cary Manor, Montacute House,Stourhead House and Gardens. We are also well placed to welcome those wishing to visit schools in the area including Millfield and Wells Cathedral. 10 mins from the A303 and 25 mins from the M5 we are a convenient stopping off point for those on a longer journey further west.
We live next door to the property and will be available ensure our guests have everything they need.
Lovely quiet location with village shop and post office, and farm shop within easy walking distance. There are many scenic local walks including a Butleigh Village Heritage Trail. The nearby towns of Glastonbury and Street provide supermarkets, cafes, restaurants, take away food outlets and petrol stations. There is a very limited bus service from the village to Street Castle Cary and Wincanton but a car is needed for all but the shortest journeys here. We are within easy reach of walks on The Levels, The Mendips and the Quantock Hills and the area is very popular with cyclists because of its quiet and very flat roads! There are beautiful walks from the cottage and we do have a good supply of local walking guides which you may borrow.
