Old Newham Farm Holiday Cottages were formed from old stone and slate farm buildings grouped around the old farmyard taking care to retain their individual charm and traditional character yet have all the up to date features required today. We discovered Old Newham more than 40 years ago hidden away at the end of a quiet lane in this forgotten part of Cornwall and were captivated by its tranquillity and away from it all position. Other than another small farm just up the lane, our nearest neighbour in any direction is over a half mile away. Old Newham was the original farmstead of ‘Neuham’ farm which existed almost one thousand years ago, our house is listed Grade 2 and dates from perhaps the thirteenth or fourteenth century. Our cottages are based on the old stone buildings which are more than 250 years old. Our 30 acre farm is situated deep in the gentle River Ottery valley, completely immersed in the abundant wildlife. The tree lined river banks are home to Buzzards, Heron, Woodpecker, Jay and many smaller birds. We have nesting Owls and you may catch a glimpse of a fleeting Kingfisher or an Otter on the river. There is a small nomadic herd of Fallow Deer which frequents our fields as well as the more common Foxes, Rabbits and a thriving colony of Bats. Domesticated animals include a herd of Organic Suckler Cows, Pet Horses, Pygmy Goats, a Pig, Chickens and Ducks.

Old Newham Farm is midway between Bude and Camelford just three miles back from the dramatic Atlantic Coast. This part of Cornwall has over the years been overlooked as a holiday destination leaving it unaffected by the worst of modern tourism. Unparalleled coastal scenery, quiet hidden coves and open and remote Bodmin Moor this a land for walking and exploring. Our nearest section of Coast Path has the most outstanding, unspoiled views in Cornwall. There are several villages to visit within a short drive – Boscastle – 5 miles – Unique Harbour, steep streets, Witchcraft Museum Tintagel – 9 miles – Castle, Old Post Office, King Arthur. Port Isaac – 15 miles - of Doc Martin fame. Bude, - 10 miles - A restored canal with sea lock, sea water pool and wetland nature reserve. Within three miles are three traditional country pubs and one with outstanding sea views, all serving good food. Boscastle – 5 miles – has a choice of several good places to eat. Beaches in the area cater for every taste from Bude’s two iconic beaches, Widemouth Bay for surfing/water sports, Crackington Haven - 3½ miles away and our nearest beach Strangles where you can truly get away from it all.
