Welcome to Orchard Hideaways. We are David and Susan Heritage and along with our children and grandchildren, we have lovingly restored this ancient orchard. Having bought the land a number of years ago, we secured planning permission to build no more than 16 camping pods on the site. Over a year later, along with blood, sweat and some tears we cleared the ancient site of 40 years worth of weeds, shrubs and ivy. Needless to say, it was back-breaking, removing tonnes of unwanted earth and rubble. We have since spent the time restoring the remaining apple trees and planting new ones to create a working orchard and a serene place for all our guests to stay. The pods themselves are completely bespoke and lovingly built by us. Each one is designed to make full use of the space, creating the perfect place for outdoor enthusiasts, families or couples to stay. Orchard Hideaways is a family business that was built using each of our skills to create a space for the community to enjoy. We pride ourselves on offering clean, comfortable accommodation and a warm welcome for all of our guests.

Penrith is a 5 min drive and has lots of cafes, pubs and restaurants to try during your stay! It also has a museum, cinema, a cycle centre, castle with park, a leisure centre with a swimming pool and indoor play area and little independent shops including the famous toffee shop. Popular surrounding attractions are - Ullswater lake / ullswater steamers which take you around the lake - Pooley Bridge, (15 min drive) has numerous cafes, pubs/ restaurants (many accepting dogs) little shops including a lovely specialist food and drink store (Chestnut House). This is best known for its location as it is right next to Ullswater Lake - Aira Force- a really popular walk near Ullswater lake - Rheged, (4 min drive) which has a 60ft cinema screen, gallery, food, shops and an outdoor play area. It also has exciting programs for family fun for example, pumpkin carving at halloween and visiting Santa at Christmas. (research before arrival) - Abbott Lodge Jersey ice cream farm, (10 min drive) It makes over 40 flavours of high quality Jersey ice cream. Has an indoor and outdoor play area, you often get to take a look at the calves - Lowther Castle, Glenridding, Stainton and much more!
