There are numerous nearby attractions and activities for all ages including The Cocoa Bean Chocolate Factory, which offers both indoor and outdoor play areas and chocolate making workshops. Slightly further afield is Galloway Activity Centre which offers both land and water-based activities on the shores of Loch Ken. Located approximately 5 miles from the picturesque small rural town of Gatehouse of Fleet which provides numerous opportunities for eating out - we highly recommend The Galloway Lodge for breakfast or lunch and The Masonic offers great food and beer! small shops, a delightful and testing nine-hole golf course, tennis courts, river and loch fishing. Historical attractions are Cardoness Castle, a late 15th-century fortified tower house that was the ancient seat of the McCullochs, and the ruins of Anwoth Church with its atmospheric graveyard, complete with Covenanter graves. Slightly further afield but well worth a visit are; Kirkcudbright known as the Artist's Town due to its links with the Glasgow Boys and Girls. The town is also home to the Dark Sky Planetarium, Kirkcudbright Galleries, a cookery school, community run swimming pool, 18-hole golf course, and an array of independent shops and eateries.
