Peel House was built in 1923 originally as Girvan's Police Station, it's thought to have architectural similarities to the buildings at Turnberry Golf Course. Now as a bed and breakfast we have two spacious letting rooms in what we believe were the Sergeants accommodation. One is a double bedroom with a king size bed and private bathroom. The other is a family room featuring a double bed, a bed settee and en-suite bathroom. Each room has drinks facilities, a smart TV and complimentary toiletries. Free WiFi is available and limited on-site car parking to the rear of the propery. The property also includes 4 cells which will be a future project but guests are free to check them out if they wish.
We are completely people people if you understand what I mean? Both of us have histories in either healthcare or primary education. However after long stints doing the same types of roles we decided that it was time for a change in lifestyle. Hence this year we offer our services to yourselves to come and join us at our home to enjoy some warm hospitality and quality homemade food. We have a keen interest in trying to help support our local community and suppliers where possible; and aim to minimise our impact on the environment as much as we can and hope you will join us in this mission. Both of us enjoy gardening and cooking. There's also no better thing than getting out in the fresh air; and Girvan and the surrounding area offers plenty of opportunities to unwind and chill - whether inland, on the beach or on the water. We also love music and concert going being particularly into band such as "The Script", Snow Patrol and Bon Jovi. We truly look forward to meeting each and every one of our guest and hope you enjoy your stay with us!
Our home is situated within our town's conservation area, nestled amongst traditional Scottish houses with views to the rear over the beautiful Carrick Hills and a quick walk from the beach. Girvan is a small fishing town situated on the east coast of the Firth of Clyde within the Galloway and South Ayrshire Biosphere. From the beach there are views over to the Isle of Arran, the Mull of Kintyre and on a good day Northern Ireland. Girvan is also the home of Ailsa Craig, a beautiful stony outcrop off the coast which is an extinct volcano - its now a site of special scientific interest and where the granite for quality curling stones is derived. Close by there are two Golf courses, there are opportunities for outward-bound activities or just to simply chill and enjoy the scenery. Girvan has modest shopping and dining amenities but the county town Ayr is a short drive away and is well worth a visit.
