‘Pepperpot’ Layout & Facilities
3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms set over three floors with large dining & living area leading out to well furnished decking area with BBQ with views to Isis Lake.
There are two large double bedrooms and one single room, perfect for up to 5 people. Fully-equipped kitchen, dining/living area, Smart TV and good WiFi / Broadband. Outside there is wrap-around decking, fenced in by traditional white picket fence, with patio furniture & traditional charcoal BBQ (please bring charcoal).
Please be aware that this quirky and characterful property is someone's home let out between the owners' stays at the lake. There are personal items and trinkets throughout, so quite different to a 'purpose built' holiday lodge. Much of the furniture in ‘Pepperpot’ was handmade by the owner's father! This all ads to the charm of this cosy, well-loved home. We invite you to relax, enjoy, embrace the quirkiness and the rocking horse!
Living / Dining / Reception Rooms - The front door entrance leads directly into the open and spacious living / dining room area. The French doors lead out to a well furnished decking area with BBQ.
About the host: Sue & Andrew Blow moved to The Pepperpot in 2022. We live full time in a cottage in Scotland but spend as much time as we can at our lodge, where we host family and friends. It is full of our pictures and furniture so please do not expect ‘Hotel Neutral’!
We chose the area because Sue is a swimmer and a member at Lake 32. She also dips in the Thames, Lake 86 and Lake 12…next to Windrush and Isis. Andrew loves walking and has amassed a collection of books & pamphlets on local trails. We always bring our lurcher Willow with us, but sadly we, like every other dog owner and visitor, have to keep her on the lead at all times. However, there are great walks round the perimeter of the site, and lots of poo bins. Please bring plenty of poo bags and pick up after your pooch. Go online to find secure fields in the area.
Athough swimming is not allowed in any of the lakes on site, there are two little beaches for children. There are sand play toys in the large box on the deck. The one we use is just beyond the willow tree nearest to The Pepperpot, but there is another on Windrush, which is opposite the lodge and across the grass. Please scrape sand off before going back into the Lodge. There is an outside tap beneath the kitchen window.
We love to visit Cirencester and Kelmscott is only a short drive away. There are so many lovely places to eat and drink that we are spoilt for choice. A personal favourite is the Waterside Kitchen & Bar about half a mile up Spine Road that does terrific small plates of PanAsian food.
For a quick lunch, try the small café at the lake next door. In the summer you can sit on the deck over the water, and in winter, stay snug indoors. It has a great reputation for interesting street food – but the availability changes between winter and summer so check opening hours. Our grandchildren adore the pizzas from the Gateway café area: walk across and check it out.
A short drive away is South Cerney with three brilliant family pubs.

You can relax on the lakeside decking with the BBQ and watch the local wildlife & wildfowl. Alternatively get active & enjoy a wide range of watersports, try water skiing, go cycling, walking or simply explore the many well marked local trails.
