Poets Cottage is located on the outskirts of the pretty village of Steep, adjacent to a working farm, in the beautiful Hampshire countryside, just to the west of Petersfield. With 3 bedrooms and spacious living space, it is perfectly situated for walking and exploring the South Downs and for day trips to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, Winchester, Goodwood motor and horse racing events and the beach at Hayling Island or West Wittering. Up to 2 dogs are very welcome (extra charge applies)

We are usually around on the farm everyday so are available to answer questions. If we are out and about, we always have our mobile phones with us and are happy to answer any queries you may have at any time.

Poets is located at the foot of the Ashford Hangers Nature Reserve (Hangers is a Hampshire name for woods) so there is excellent walking to be had straight from the front door. The terrain can be steep (hence the name of the village!) but the views from the Poets Stone (named after Edward Thomas) are worthwhile. The market town of Petersfield is a 5 minute drive away and has good shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants. There are 2 pubs near to Poets (although, alas, neither is a particularly nice walk to reach them) - The historic Harrow Inn is great for a drink and ploughman's lunch and The Cricketers' Inn has just had an extensive refurbishment and looks great! If you are after a day out, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, Gunwharf Quays and the Spinnaker Tower are about half an hour away. The wonderful city of Arundel with it's castle and wildfowl and wetlands trust is about 45 minutes away as is the children's favourite, Paultons Park. We are lucky to have various National Trust properties within reach - Hinton Ampner, Uppark, and Petworth Park.
