Polhawn Lookout – Luxury Coastal Hideaway With Outdoor Bath & Sea Views
(Polhawn Lookout is well known locally — feel free to search our name online to learn more about the area and the accommodation.)
Polhawn Lookout is a luxury, modern self-catering retreat for two, set above Whitsand Bay in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With open sea views, a peaceful cliffside setting and the South West Coast Path right outside, it’s perfect for quiet escapes, walking breaks, or attending a nearby wedding at Polhawn Fort, just a short walk away.
The private outdoor heated bathtub overlooks the sea and is ideal for sunrise soaks, sunset views or stargazing. Complementary bath salts, bubbles and robes are provided. You can dine on the elevated decking or simply relax in bed while watching the waves.
Inside, the chalet has a stylish open-plan layout with a Smart TV (bring your own login), a compact fully equipped kitchen, and 4G WiFi. Storage is limited, so packing light is recommended.
We welcome one well-behaved dog and provide a small bed, blanket and bowls. There are dog-friendly beaches and miles of coastal paths to explore. Please keep dogs off the furniture and do not leave them unattended.
A free parking space is included a short walk from the chalet. We also provide clear loading and offloading instructions so you can drop bags closer to the accommodation before returning to your allocated space. Please note: both the access route and the loading area although a short distance are reached via a steep cliffside path with steps, which can become slippery when wet. Sensible footwear is essential.
The property is not suitable for toddlers, children or guests with mobility difficulties.
EV charging is available at Cawsand Car Park (approx. 1 mile).
Whether you’re visiting for a romantic short break, a week by the sea, or a Polhawn Fort wedding, Polhawn Lookout offers a peaceful, stylish and memorable coastal escape for two.
We’re both local to Kingsand and Cawsand and love living in this beautiful corner of Cornwall. I work locally as a cleaner, and my partner is part of the team at Polhawn Fort wedding venue. We have three children and enjoy sharing our love of the area with our guests.
We want you to have a relaxing and enjoyable stay, so if there’s anything you need to know — whether about the property or things to do nearby — just ask. You can also look online for ideas, but we’re always happy to help with personal recommendations too.
Polhawn Lookout sits in one of the most peaceful stretches of the Rame Peninsula, often called “Cornwall’s Forgotten Corner” for its unspoilt scenery and slower pace of life. The chalet overlooks Whitsand Bay, a long sweep of sandy beaches backed by dramatic cliffs, with the South West Coast Path running directly behind the property.
It’s a quiet, rural area with no through-traffic — perfect for guests who want sea views, nature, and space to unwind. For dining and local amenities, the nearby villages of Kingsand and Cawsand offer cosy pubs, cafés, and small shops. Millbrook has a convenience store and a couple of takeaways, while more substantial restaurants and options can be found in Cremyll and Mt Edgcumbe
Wildlife is a big part of the area: it’s common to see dolphins, seals, kestrels and gannets from the cliffs, especially at sunrise or early evening. The beaches below are tide-dependent, but when the tide is out you have miles of sand to walk.
Despite the peaceful setting, you’re close to plenty of attractions — from Polhawn Fort (walking distance) to Mount Edgcumbe Country Park, the Cremyll ferry to Plymouth, and the wider Rame Peninsula’s coves, woodlands, and historic sites.
This neighbourhood suits guests who love nature, sea views, coastal walks, and tranquillity.
