We strive to make our guests stay at Poppy Cottage as pleasant and enjoyable as possible. Aiming to provide the best home form home for your vacation. Having visited Matlock since we were very young, buying our own holiday home there was a lifelong dream. Poppy cottage couldn’t be better for us and the main reason is location. Being right in the center of Matlock and right next to the park, yet in a quiet no traffic area, allows you to frequent the local cafes and restaurants but enjoy a great night’s sleep.

Property information

Poppy cottage is a beautiful stone-built, end-terrace cottage situated right in the center of Matlock Town in the Peak District. Situated next to Hall Leys Park and off the main road, the cottage is a quiet, relaxing place to stay for exploring the stunning Derbyshire Dales and Peak District. Large king size bedroom, smaller single bedroom, cottage style kitchen, lounge and a downstairs bathroom. A two-minute walk takes you into the historic town of Matlock with an impressive array of restaurants, pubs, cafes and shops. The comfortable sitting room boasts a cosy wood burner, sofa and small dining table and chairs. Upstairs the large main bedroom features a king size bed, oak wardrobes and drawers to provide plenty of storage space. Also the smaller second bedroom provides a comfy cottage style single bed with bedside drawers. On the ground floor a fully tiled bathroom features a full-size bath with shower over. The cottage style kitchen is fully equipped with large fridge-freezer, halogen hob and electric oven. Also there is a washer/dryer and microwave. Car parking space included with the property is opposite poppy cottage, free of charge(no booking required) There is off road parking available next to the cottage for second vehicles on a first come basis if required.

Neighbourhood information

The popular Derbyshire town of Matlock and neighbouring Matlock Bath, have been attracting visitors to the area since the spa was developed in the late 17th century. Set in the beautiful wooded gorge of the River Derwent, Matlock offers a range of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as a host of attractions including Gulliver’s Kingdom and the Peak District Mining Museum. Magnificent views down the gorge can be enjoyed from the cable car which takes visitors up to the Heights of Abraham – a great place for all the family with its showcaves, nature trail, water gardens and Owl Maze. South of the town is the start of the High Peak Cycle Trail, whilst a short drive away is the National Tramway Museum at Crich. To the north are the market town of Bakewell and Chatsworth House. There are an abundance of beautiful walks and places to visit all within a stones throw away.
