With plenty to explore on your doorstep, you don't even have to step into a car! ABOUT Set in the this Grade II listed period house dating from the 1700s was been completely refurbished in 2019. The shaker-style kitchen looks out over the courtyard. It’s well-equipped with everything you need for a self-catering break; a large fridge freezer, separate wine fridge, radio, and dishwasher. Fire up the electric Aga, perfect for cooking with the gang using produce bought at the weekly Richmond market. In the separate dining room, gather around the large antique table for a family meal. An impressive staircase leads up to the first-floor sitting room. Lounge into the sumptuous sofas in front of the open fire, or pop on the TV for a lazy afternoon after a walk in the Yorkshire Dales. There is a handy ground floor WC. In the cellar, you’ll find the utility room and a travel cot and highchair for young families. BEDROOMS The first-floor bedroom features a large period window looking over the courtyard. There is plenty of storage and a sumptuous king-sized bed. Up the staircase to the second floor are two further bedrooms. The larger bedroom has an original fireplace and a king-sized bed. The third bedroom is smaller, with an angled ceiling, wooden beams and a cosy double bed. All beds come with high-quality linen, hypoallergenic pillows, luxurious throws and cushions. The spacious modern bathroom has a large slipper bath. There is a separate large walk-in rainfall shower. USEFUL TO KNOW A starter pack of items under the kitchen sink and in the washroom, where there’s a washing machine, dryer and iron, will get you going. On-street free parking is right outside, available on a first come first serve basis. Porte House is a twenty-minute drive to Northallerton train station and once in Richmond, there’s plenty to do on foot.

On your luxury break, take in some of the local sights and the fantastic North Yorkshire pubs and restaurants locally. It is a few minutes’ stroll into the heart of Richmond or to idyllic riverside walks. Explore Richmond Castle, the museums, the large cobbled marketplace, and the thriving shops, pubs and restaurants. For dinner, Rustique has delicious French cuisine or for a relaxed evening try No.29 for ales, gins and tapas. As Saturdays are market day in the centre of the Market Place, be sure to pick up a few local Yorkshire products before you head home.
