Red Deer Cottage, Wheddon Cross (Somerset) is situated on a working farm in a lovely rural location. This detached barn was converted with guests' comfort in mind; the property is spacious and offers flexible accommodation for families or group getaways. Sleeps up to 6 guests in three bedrooms Open-plan kitchen-dining and living area One downstairs twin bedroom with shower room and toilet adjacent Two double bedrooms upstairs (one king-sized bed and one double bed) Both double bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms Laundry facilities (shared with other cottages) Patio area directly outside the cottage with BBQ and large garden (enclosed but not dog proof) Dogs welcome free of charge (2 maximum) Friday changeover in the summer months Wifi (rural) heating, and electricity included Natural water supply from a spring Bed linen and towels provided Arrive from 4 pm Depart by 9:15 am Other details: A refundable security deposit of 200 GBP is required for this property, to cover the cost of possible damage during your stay. All things being well, this security deposit will be returned shortly after your departure providing there is no damage to the property or its contents. Two weeks prior to your arrival, you will need to contact the owners to make arrangements regarding the payment of the security deposit. Up to two well behaved dogs are welcome by prior arrangement. You are expected to be vigilant and keep your dog/s under close control at all times as there is likely to be livestock in the immediate vicinity. There is a forestry track leading from the garden that you can exercise your dog in for a short walk. There are lots of lovely walks a short drive from the farm where your dog can be exercised freely, including dog friendly beaches. Check-in/out reminders: Arrive after 4pm for thorough cleaning. Depart by 9:15am; strip beds and leave linen/towels in piles. Note: There is a pond outside the garden boundary.

Wheddon Cross is just over a mile from Red Deer Cottage, it's a village in the parish of Cutcombe on Exmoor, based around the crossroads; the roads run from north to south between Minehead and Dulverton, and east to west between Taunton and North Devon. The village is argued to be the highest on Exmoor, standing at 980 feet above sea level, and the highest point on Exmoor, Dunkery Beacon (1704 feet above sea level) is the focal point of the village. Dunkery Beacon is about three miles from the village, there are fantastic panoramic views from Dunkery; wild moorland to the west, the Bristol Channel and Wales to the north, the rolling Brendon Hills to the east and the Quarme Valley to the south. In recent years the village has become well-known for the abundance of snowdrops in the nearby valley which has become known as 'Snowdrop Valley'. The snowdrops bloom around February and a park and ride system operates from the village to enable visitors easy access to the "carpet of snowdrops". Wheddon Cross is surrounded by beautiful countryside; open moorland, wooded valleys and farmland. An abundance of wildlife can often be seen, including Exmoor ponies and red deer. There are a number of great walks along marked footpaths and bridleways, including the famous Coleridge Way which passes through.. Wheddon Cross is a thriving community and offers many local services for a small village. The village shop is a well-stocked mini-supermarket incorporating a Post Office counter, petrol pumps, cash point machine and has good opening hours. The Rest & Be Thankful Inn is the village pub which serves food and is child and dog friendly. The village also has a first school, church, playing field, public conveniences, and a bus service. Minehead is the nearest town, approximately 9 miles away. Here you will find the larger supermarkets and petrol stations (Tesco and Morrison's are both situated on the outskirts of the town), high street banks with cash machines.
