A brand-new floating home completed May 2022, as featured on the upcoming Channel 4's 'My Floating Home' in 2023. Come and slow down at Tulana, immerse yourself in a bit of luxury on the water and enjoy the best of both worlds - London sights and communing with nature.
Relax in this unusual setting of a floating home on the inner lagoon of Taggs Island close to Hampton Court Palace, Richmond and Kingston. Tulana offers guests a singular experience of living in urban nature in London. To elevate your stay further the floating home even has a semi-private Swedish wood-fired hot tub. This is prepared by the host over 4 hours and can be booked separately in advance.
Stay in the tranquil surrounds of a floating home and drink in the slice of nature, while also taking in the Big Ben, the Tower of London and Piccadilly Circus with theatreland Soho and Covent Garden only 30-45 minutes away.
I am a flamboyant vintage dressing Afrikaans diva who has made South West London her home, living on a floating home on Taggs Island since 2019. Taggs Island is London's best kept secret on the river Thames, even to residents in the local suburbs. From June 2022 I host other globe trotters, to share our little piece of heaven on the water.
I make vintage inspired flower hair accessories and other striking paraphernalia, as a creative outlet on the side (@lilabopcreations). I have a little studio with its own separate entrance as part of Tulana, from where I work and fulfil orders during the week.
If you stay at Tulana I can help arrange on-site sport massage sessions, paddleboard lessons and also link up with local artisans on the island - such as photographers, jewellers, artists. As we live next door to Tulana I can also be on hand to assist with recommendations about local restaurants, local shops, sightseeing in the area and travel guidance around London.
HOUSE RULES:
Taggs Island is a private island that is peaceful and a sanctuary for both water fowl and residents. As such no playing of music is allowed outside and guests are kindly asked to be respectful with noise levels. We aim to be good neighbours and to remain considerate with those we are hosting.
No smoking or candles allowed inside the floating home or in the immediate area due to its timber structure.
No unbooked guests or friends are allowed to visit, without prior written approval by the host, at least 24 hours in advance. Definitely no parties, business or inappropriate activities on site. Breaking the house rules might result in requesting you to leave. Our relationship with our direct neighbours are too precious.
Taggs Island situated on the river Thames, close to Hampton Court Palace, Richmond and Kingston. This is a private island and is home to residents from all ages and walks of life, accessed via a bridge.
Just across the bridge is Bushy Park with over 1000 acres, famed for its mix of waterways, gardens, and roaming herds of deer. Further up and down the river you will find little hamlets of shops, restaurants, pubs and modern amenities. Most restaurants also offer take away deliveries to your floating home door.
There are easy bus connections to and from Kingston, Richmond and Hampton. The Hampton Court rail station is about 15 minutes’ walk away and is also serviced by a bus stopping just next to the bridge that leads onto Taggs Island. This train route goes straight into Waterloo station via Clapham Junction and Vauxhall so one can be in central London within 30 minutes.
