As we live in the West Mainland and not in town we advise you having a car to stay at Runa We moved into the property 4 years ago and renovated the empty attic space into 1 bedroomed self contained flat and 2 more bedrooms. This Year we converted the 2nd bedroom upstairs into a Studio Apartment, and we can now offer 2 rooms for rent The Flat and Apartment are both upstairs ( NOT wheelchair accessible ) and is 50m2 and 45m2, respectively The house is situated near to the Twatt Kirk in Birsay. Very well situated to do the World Heritage Site and bird life . While we live 17 miles outside of the Kirkwall, and 10 miles out of Stromness, there is a supermarket/petrol/butcher nearby (3 miles) in dounby.

I work in the Tourist Trade and as such am a gold mine of information of what to see and do in Orkney while you are holidaying here. We try to be green as much as we can be, the Entire house is heated via a renewable heating system and powered by our own Wind Turbine. The Wind turbine is situated on our property and as such we do not charge for electricity. We have a cat. With interests in History/photography and books

The property is situated 5 miles from Skara Brae, 8 miles from the Ring of Brodgar and 10 miles from Maeshowe ( Maeshowe is unusual as it has to be prebooked online for the tours ) We are only 1 mile from the Loons Bird reserve and 2.5 miles from Marwick head . Sometimes seeing Hen Harriers hunting the fields nearby.
