Stonehaven is 5 miles (10 minute drive) from the property that is a favourite stop on the Coastal Trail and a popular day trip. Enjoy the stunning ruins of iconic Dunnottar Castle. Stonehaven is steeped in Scottish history and surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes. Aberdeenshire is known as ‘Castle Country’, and is home to Scotland’s only Castle Trail. The trail guides you around 17 of the region’s finest castles, including, Balmoral Castle – where the Queen spends her summers – and the fairy tale Craigievar Castle. Head inland towards Speyside, home to the most distilleries of any of the whisky-producing area of Scotland. The Malt Whisky Trail is the best way to explore the world's favourite malt whisky region. The trail guides you around seven working distilleries including the world-famous Glenfiddich, Glenlivet and Glen Moray. Aberdeen city hosts craft and vintage fayres and an outdoor farmers market. Head to Union Square for shopping and dining, or meander along Union Street, Aberdeen’s main thoroughfare. The Cairngorms National Park and North Sea Trail provides the perfect terrain for walkers. Enjoy a wildlife cruise and see puffins and Atlantic grey seals.
