Guests can enjoy the traditional shepherds hut experience but with the comfort of modern amenities, and with the privacy of the wildlife haven that is “Quack and Shack”. With great crested newts, barn owls, and water voles, there’s plenty to see. Put some logs on the firepit, sit back and watch the stars. Take a few days out to unwind, reflect, and breathe.

Hi, I am John a hut maker living in Suffolk. Over the last 6 years I have made over 60 shepherds huts, for a wide range of customers and won several awards. At my new site nestled in the splendid Suffolk countryside, I would like to open up this unique experience to a wider audience, by offering you the chance to stay in one my very best luxury huts.

Laxfield has two great pubs! The Royal Oak and the Low House (Kings Head). These are 20 minutes walk from the field and well worth a visit. The Royal Oak is a 15th century coaching inn and on the inner face of the chimney inside the pub you can see witches marks, carved symbols which were supposed to keep witches away. The Low House is a very special experience with traditional pub settles and to this day has a tap room as opposed to a bar. The Laxfield Coop – Perhaps the friendliest shop in Suffolk. 1 minute drive or 20 mins walk you will find an excellent village shop. Whether you need some pastries or a full roast dinner this shop has it all. It is also the local post office if you need some cash. Open until 10.00pm every night apart from Christmas day this shop is super convenient for the Quack and Shack. Neil Graystons Hardware – Step back in time and go and see Neil (lovely chap). Anything you could possibly imagine and customer service second to none. Worth a trip even if you don’t need anything.
