A very warm welcome awaits you at Stoodleigh Court Coach House B&B. Originally part of the Stoodleigh Court Estate, which was built in 1881, the coach house and stables have had a variety of uses over the years. Our renovation project started in April 2011 and we completed the B&B Annexe in 2013; we have just finished the main house! (Although there will always be bits & pieces to improve!) From the 1920s to 1992 the buildings were used for the Science lab, garaging, Headmaster's House & Matron's flat for Ravenswood School, the main part of which was next door in what is now Stoodleigh Court. The accommodation we offer is very versatile with the B&B Annexe having its own kitchen, lounge/dining room and terrace overlooking the garden. Breakfast is served in one of several places... the large hall in the main house where we've recently renovated the original flagstone floor (it was once the harness room for the coach house), the lounge dining room in the annexe (with the log-burner roaring in the colder months), or the south facing terrace when its sunny. The annexe can also be let as a whole with exclusive use by a group of guests.
Steve & Rosey love travelling, particularly visiting the Far East, and appreciate how important comfortable accommodation is for any holiday or short break; particularly the beds and the en-suite facilities. The renovations to the B&B accommodation have been carried out to the standards that they would expect when staying away from home, with much attention paid to detail... from the Farrow & Ball paint used for all the decorating, the interlined curtains and blinds, the cotton bedding and fluffy towels, down to the Nespresso machine and extensive variety of Pukka and 'teapigs' herbal teas in the B&B kitchen, & the Molton Brown shower gel and hand soap in the bathrooms! They look forward to meeting you and are happy to advise on the many hidden delights of the locality & the Devon countryside.
Only 15 minutes drive from the M5 & five minutes from the A361 North Devon Link Road, Stoodleigh Court Coach House B&B is set in the peaceful mid Devon countryside close to Exmoor & benefits from stunning scenery and extensive walks down unspoiled country lanes and through fields and woods. We are ideally situated between the rugged North Devon coastline and the beaches of South Devon, both being within 45 minutes drive. Stoodleigh Beacon is the highest point between Dartmoor and Exmoor so you only have to wander a little way to enjoy views across to both!
