With its famous Guildhall, magnificent Church and restored Windmill set against a backdrop of Medieval houses it is considered the jewel in the crown of Essex. Thaxted is also home to the annual Morris Weekend which sees the gathering of Morris dancers from across the country gathering to dance through the town culminating in the Abbots Bromley Horn Dance in the churchyard.
