Of all the areas to choose for your holiday, the North Cotswolds is an excellent choice. It is brim full of history and the thriving village of Bloxham, where the house is situated, is one of the best locations in which to stay. It is the ideal base from which to explore this fascinating area, whether you want to stay local and see the market town of Banbury, taking a boat trip on the Oxford canal, or visit George Washington s family house, Sulgave Manor.
Turning right from the house will lead you quickly into spectacularly beautiful Cotswolds villages, with their honey coloured stone houses and memorable walks or cycle rides.
The house, with its central heating and very spacious kitchen, is wonderful to come back to after a winter walk or bike ride. Bikes can be parked in the back garden. There is a lovely tea shop and garden centre, selling fresh homemade cakes just across the road from the house. No need to cook because the village boasts 3 pubs and a fish and chip shop. The Red Lion also serves fresh morning coffees and full breakfasts
There is ample storage: a large cupboard under the stairs, an airer for wet clothes, and a huge length of mirrored wardrobes in the principal bedroom, where you can store those special occasion clothes. Blenheim Palace, a pretty drive away in the village of Woodstock holding many classic events throughout the year, including classic cars and horse trials, where dressing up is de rigeur,
For art lovers, visit Chipping Campden, Stowe on the Wold and Moreton on Marsh, as well as Woodstock. Not forgetting Broadway, named such because it really was a broad way to make it easier to drive the flocks of honey tinted sheep through the village. Much of the wealth of this wonderful region was derived from those sheep.
