The Cottage sits near the banks of the River Tees and situated on the Teesdale Way and is a Gateway to Teesdale, Swaledale and Wensleydale. The historic market town of Barnard Castle is less than 15 minutes away. The Lake District National Park is around an hour away, as is the North Yorkshire National Park. From the front door, you can be walking either down stream towards Darlington, or upstream towards Barnard Castle and beyond, with some stunning scenery along the way.

The Blue Cottage is set in a small village on the A67, Barnard Castle road. The village has a Church and a fully refurbished pub and restaurant, called the Spotted Dog, which will be dog friendly. The village is on the Teesdale Way, so lots of different walks from the front door. The Blue cottage has on street parking at the front, but there is also private off street parking at the back of the property. Guests also will have access to a Electric Charging point, access to this is at the rear of the property. There is an excellent bus service to both Darlington and Barnard Castle.
