However, there is much more to Laugharne than just Dylan Thomas. It is a small ancient town steeped in history, sitting on the estuary of the Taf River, offering stunning estuary walks, including the infamous Dylan Thomas Birthday Walk. There are plenty of woodland walks, and the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path starts nearby. It offers a popular tourist destination with many great attractions in the area. The Boathouse, where Dylan and Caitlin lived with their children, is now a heritage centre. Overlooking the estuary are the dramatic ruins of a Norman Castle, a popular visitor attraction. Explore this charming sleepy town with a mixture of large Georgian houses and pretty small cottages, set amongst a good choice of cafes and restaurants, including the well-known Browns Hotel. There is also a good choice of outdoor activities available in the area, ranging from horse riding and coasteering to various water sports, abseiling, orienteering, caving, and gorge walking.
