Our self-contained holiday apartment space was part of a Granny Flat built by the previous owners of our house. It was than mine and my husband's bedroom whilst we had all of our four children living at home. In recent years our children have gone traveling and to university and so we decided to make this side of the house into a self-contained holiday apartment with a kitchen -diner downstairs and a king-size bedroom with an en-suite upstairs. We have made it as comfortable and welcoming as we would like it ourselves, a home from home. The downstairs kitchen-diner allows you to be completely self-contained, with a new modern kitchen, a washer-dryer, and dining table and chairs. When I have no guests to look after I like to create my own textile artworks, some of which hang in the apartment. The apartment also has free off-road parking and a small sunny private courtyard for your own use. We can also provide sheltered bike storage, wet suit washing, and drying facilities.
Our house is right next to The Tarka Trail, which is a disused railway line converted into a cycle and walking path that runs alongside the beautiful estuary leading into Barnstaple. It is part of the South West Coast Path. We are situated about 4 miles from Braunton and about 10 miles from Saunton Sands beach. There are several lovely sandy beaches along our part of the coast, Saunton, Croyde, Putsbough, and Woolacombe. We are very close to Braunton Burrows which is a wonderful place to walk and is designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty and has rare flora growing there. Braunton is a lively town with numerous places to eat, including, Thai, and English cuisine. There are surf shops selling wet suits and boards in Braunton, and a Surfing museum. The Countryside Centre is a rare and wonderful asset in the heart of Braunton providing information on local flora and fauna, places of interest, and places to visit.
