The Old Vicarage offers modern accommodation in a historic building in the beautiful village of Flore.
Former vicarage, now house; The Old Vicarage is a Grade II listed building with origins as far back as the 17th century. It was largely rebuilt in 1815, probably by Daniel Harris of Oxford who added grand slate floors and staircase among other lavish improvements.
The house and stables are built using Northamptonshire quarried sandstone which is so typical of the area.
周边信息
Flore is set on a gentle slope overlooking the Nene Valley. Views from the southern end of the village stretch across open fields to the river and Grand Union Canal, and create a tranquil setting.
The environment of the village is rich in history; the area has had settlements since pre-Neolithic times. Mesolithic, Neolithic, and Iron Age artefacts have been found. Numerous Roman villas have been investigated in Flore and adjacent parishes. Earthworks between Flore House, the Church and the Mill indicate that the early village was in that area, but there is no documentary evidence of this before the Domesday Book.
