Alison lives in the property next door. We arrived a little early and Alison kindly gave us a lift into Bath. Alison had thought of everything, the cottage and surroundings were idyllic. We couldn’t have asked for anything else. Highly recommend...

The Old Workshop – Stylish, Peaceful Comfort in the Countryside Tucked away in a quiet countryside setting, The Old Workshop offers a perfect blend of character, comfort, and modern convenience—ideal for couples or small groups seeking a restful countryside escape only a few minutes drive from the historic city of Bath. Guests enjoy private parking (with EV charger), a private raised patio garden, and level access to the ground floor of the stylish living space. Inside, the open-plan layout features a cosy seating area with corner sofa, smart TV (including Netflix, BBC iPlayer, Spotify, and more), and a dining area for four. The fully equipped kitchen includes everything you need—induction hob, oven, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave, coffee machine, and welcome breakfast essentials like tea, coffee, milk, bread, and preserves. The ground floor bedroom offers a double divan with crisp white cotton linens, clothes storage, and a modern ensuite shower room. From the back door, steps lead up to a peaceful, sun-trap patio with herb garden, dining furniture, and views up to the orchard—perfect for morning coffee or an al fresco meal. Upstairs, the charming loft bedroom can be made up as a super-king (large double) bed or twin single beds, with crisp white linen, a writing desk, armchair, clothes storage and its own ensuite shower/laundry room with washer and dryer. Large windows bring in natural light and have garden views up to the orchard. Underfloor heating ensures year-round comfort, and curtains and blinds throughout help guarantee restful nights. Ultra-fast broadband and the dedicated workspace also make it suitable for remote working or a longer stay. There’s secure outdoor storage for up to 4 bicycles (indoor by request), and a 7kW EV charger is available (Type 2 cable required; electricity billed separately). This property may not be suitable for toddlers as there are no stair gates etc. Please contact us to discuss prior to booking.
We have lived and worked in Bath for 25 years, and our sons grew up and went to school here so we know the area well. We are happy to help you plan your trip or recommend places to visit. We live next door to The Old Workshop, and share our home with our dog, Inka, a black hovawart. She is very friendly but is our doorbell and may bark if there are people she doesn't know in the yard.
Nestled in idyllic Cotswold countryside in the picturesque village of Monkton Combe, but minutes by car from the historic City of Bath and the University of Bath, The Old Workshop is a perfect peaceful retreat for relaxing with family & friends. The pretty village has a welcoming pub and canal-side café. Straight from the door there are many walks and cycling routes through the beautiful Somerset countryside, with the Kennet and Avon canal towpath and the Bath Skyline walk only a few minutes away. In the centre of Bath there are world famous visitor attractions, including the Roman Baths, Bath Abbey, the Assembly Rooms, the Thermae Bath Spa, the Theatre Royal and a variety of museums including the Jane Austen museum.....and then there's shopping, with many independent shops as well as high street brands, and Bath Rugby with the "Rec" next to the River Avon right in the centre of town. Further afield it is an easy trip to the attractions of Stonehenge, Longleat, Cheddar Gorge, National Trust properties, the National Arboretum at Westonbirt, the pretty Cotswold villages and many famous film locations.
