Parts of this building date back to 1550's, signs of it's heritage can be seen in the upstairs lounge, with it's exposed ancient oak beams and lime rendered walls. When we renovated this building we wanted to show off it's charming features and install some modern comforts. Importantly we wanted to create an apartment that has a unique interesting approach to the decor, with the original artworks and curios.
I'm James, I came up to live in Hay-on-Wye area three years ago, moving up from London to enjoy the space and beauty that the region offers. I still work as a Branding consultant, but always keeping one eye on my pet project - The Pavement Palace.
Hay-on-Wye is internationally know for it's Arts and Literature Festival and as a book town. It's also fast becoming one of the regions best shopping and eating destinations. Plenty to find in it's windy streets and historic markets.
