A quiet and peaceful space, GroundWork's Penthouse is situated above a contemporary art gallery in the centre of historic King's Lynn, overlooking the quayside and the glorious 17th Century Custom House, and close to the high street. The studio is is designed for comfort, style, and sustainability, featuring work by local and international designers. It's perfectly located for river, shops, restaurants, and sights, plus there are great transport links to the nearby towns and coast.
I am Veronica, a writer, educator and gallery owner. My formative career was in the environment movement and GroundWork combines all of these life experiences. Downstairs from the Penthouse is Britain's only gallery specialising in the environment and contemporary art. There are 3 exhibitions per year. The Penthouse is quite private with independent access, and is designed to bring some of the best qualities of contemporary comfort and design. Veronica, the gallery owner, is around during opening hours (11:00 - 16:00 Wednesday to Saturday) and is happy to help with recommendations and local knowledge.
King's Lynn has more heritage buildings than any other town of its size and the Penthouse is in the heart of the historic area. It is often described as a hidden gem. There is a lot to see in the town and also it is within 20 miles of the spectacular North coast, close to Sandringham and other great houses and near to many of the greatest medieval Fenland churches. There is an owner's car park space allocated to the gallery, which guests can normally use by arrangement. It is a 2 minute walk around the corner. However, a car is not necessary to get around. The apartment is really accessible by public transport. 10 minutes walk to train station, with hourly services to Ely, Cambridge, and London, and via Peterborough to the midlands and north etc. It is a 5 minute walk to the bus station, with regular services to the rest of Norfolk and Norwich, the Norfolk coast, Hunstanton, and further afield. Bikes can be left out of sight from the road, in the car park.
