The Rowan is well located for a large variety of outdoor pursuits through all seasons, including skiing, snowboarding, biking, walking, hill climbing, fishing and gliding. Boat of Garten (the Osprey Village) is located on the world-famous River Spey in the heart of the Cairngorm National Park near Aviemore and is an ideal base for a wide range of outdoor pursuits. The village itself has a friendly and well-stocked post office and village shop, a restaurant which offers dine-in and takeaway options, a hotel and bar, and a café sited near the entrance to the holiday park itself. There are numerous scenic walks through woodland, along the River Spey, and loch-side. There are bike tracks, and you can hire a bike within the village at Ride Cairngorm, by the railway station. There is fishing on the River Spey (license obtainable from the Post Office), if you have never fished before, Spey casting lessons are available locally. Boat of Garten boasts a station stop on the Strathspey Steam Railway, on which you can travel into Aviemore. There is also a play park and a golf club. Nearby are Loch Garten and its famous RSPB Osprey Centre, Carrbridge and the Landmark Forest Adventure Park.
