The Signal Box is a perfect base to relax, unwind and explore The Lakes, the Eden Valley and even the North Pennines or Yorkshire dales. The property was built in 1860 and was once used to control the crossing and operate the points at Cliburn Station, on the Eden Valley Railway. It now offers unique, luxury, self-catering accommodation in a previously working and recently renovated railway Signal Box. It offers a 1st floor lounge, modern kitchen, bathroom, bedroom with ensuite, private parking for 2 cars, spacious garden and access to a private 14 acre wood.
We work to live and spend a lot of my spare time walking, running, cycling and even swimming in the surrounding countryside. I love where I live and sometimes have to remind myself how lucky I am to live here. So it gives me great pleasure when our guests explore the surrounding area and enthuse about their time here. We live nearby and usually introduce ourselves on or soon after your arrival. However, after that we don't interfere, but we are nearby if you need us.
Rural location in the Eden Valley, within easy striking distance of The Lakes, North Pennines and Yorkshire Dales. 7 miles from both Penrith or Appleby and 10 miles from Pooley Bridge and Ullswater. Surrounded by woods and fields, with no street lighting, so perfect for stargazing. The Signal Box has a rural location, so we recommend that guests have their own transport.
