The Sunset Retreat is within driving distance of a huge array of things to see and do. Whether you are looking for the perfect place to eat, somewhere new to explore on foot, or want to surround yourself with culture, there is something nearby for everyone.
For those of you that are looking for a gastronomic experience, there are an abundance of pubs and restaurants nearby: The Peacock at Oxhill has an excellent selection of draught beers and ales and is a great place to relax. If you are looking for something within half an hours walking distance, then head over to The Bell at Shenington, where they serve delicious food. If you are looking for the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion, then there are two Michelin starred restaurants that are a little further afield. The Royal Oak at Whatcote offers food made from local produce with ingredients that have bene foraged from the nearby land, whilst Salt by Paul Foster, in Stratford-upon-Avon offers relaxed fine dining and tasting menus.
Tysoe Windmill on the top of the 180 metre high Windmill Hill which sits between Shenington and Compton Wynyates. The 12 sided windmill was built in the 18th Century is no longer in use, however, all of its machinery is still inside.
Immerse yourself in history and head to Blenheim Palace, the 200 acre birth place of Sir Winston Churchill. Blenheim Palace has an abundance of things to see and do, including the Marlborough Maze, acres and acres of manicured garden to wander through, and guided tours of the inside of the beautiful palace.
Hidcote Manor and Gardens is a short distance from The Sunset Retreat and is the perfect place to visit if you're green fingered. The Arts and Crafts-inspired garden is intricately designed, with multiple outdoor spaces to explore. From Hidcote Manor and Gardens, head to Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of Shakespeare.
