Welcome to Jallo Kurundingoto! My name is Par Jambang and I am very excited to host you at my homestay located in a traditional Gambian village. Jallo Kurundingoto is an ecocamp located in an untouched forest on the outskirts of Nyonfelleh. Our camp is surrounded by a beautiful and healthy ecosystem that is home to many plant and bird species. We have plenty of hammocks around - and even a birdwatching area on site that is free to use for all guests - for you to be able to enjoy nature to the fullest! Jallo Kurundingoto consists of 3 huts - each equipped with a double bed and private shower and toilet. There is a shared outside space with tables, chairs and a fireplace where we can all hangout together, listen to each other's stories and share traditional Gambian meals and attaya. I like cooking so I would love to introduce you to the Gambian cuisine - from traditional tea brewing to preparing an authentic maffe. I am also very passionate and knowledgeable about mandinka culture, and offer free walking tours through the village where Jallo Kurundingoto is located - and where I grew up! We can visit the local school and health center, and stop on our way to meet my family and friends. I also offer longer daytrips to Karong (the border with Senegal), local market towns, the beach, and if desired even Cascamance in Senegal by boat! In addition, we practice permaculture at Jallo Kurundingoto, so there will always be fresh fruits and vegetables for you to try! If you are interested in learning more about permaculture, we can teach you the basics and you can come help us in the garden!
My name is Par and I am very passionate about providing visitors with an authentic Gambian experience during your stay. I am very passionate about nature, so I would love to teach you about all the bird species we have here on site as well as all the fruits and vegetables we are growing. I also like to cook and brew authentic attaya, and love learning from other people and about other cultures by the fireplace. For me, it is most important to welcome my guests as family, and treat them not as visitors but as friends. During your stay, I will do everything in my power to ensure your comfort, safety, happiness. I am always on site and very happy to plan any excursions for you that you desire. I can also help you with arranging transportation to your next destination. Looking forward to meeting you soon!
Jallo Kurundingoto is located in an untouched area of forest with many unique plant and animal species. There is ample opportunity for guests to enjoy the nature within the boundaries of the camp, but cultural exchange opportunities can also be arranged through the free walking tour to the village Nyonfelleh, and a visit to the nearby market and beach towns. Other nearby attractions include the reptile farm, a turtle conservation project, the nearby border with Senegal, and the bigger city Brikama. We are also only a 1 hour drive away from Banjul, and 45 minutes from the airport.
