The charming village square of Salakos is the hub of the village, where locals and visitors come together in a friendly and warm atmosphere. Three tavernas and two cafes serve delicious traditional Greek food and drinks. The two village shops provide a great selection of fresh local produce and a good selection of groceries and wine, and there is a nearby hotel with a bar. Salakos is at the crossroads of many of the island's roads making it an ideal central location from which to explore all of Rhode's favourite attractions. Diagoras International Airport is only 23kms away. Rhodes Old Town 41kms, and famous Lindos Village is 48kms away. The popular holiday resorts of Faliraki, Kolympia, and Afandou are a pleasant 45 minute drive, and Kalithea Springs is 43kms away. Nearer to Salakos the beaches of Kamiros, Kalavarda & Soroni are about 10 minutes by car. Some are ideal for kitesurfing, while others are ideal for sunbathing. Ancient Kamiros archeological site is 7.4ms and Kritinia Castle 26kms, and many other mountain villages such as the tourist village of Embona are only a short drive.
