Start at the castle, which is still inhabited today. Walk through the whitewashed alleys with the village houses and the courtyards with the geraniums and enjoy the breathtaking view.In summer, boats start from the port for the surrounding beaches, the deserted islands of Schiza, Sapienza and Venetiko and the nearby settlements. Pylos and Methoni are classic options for an excursion, completing the puzzle of the castles of Messinia. Just a few minutes away from the house are two minimarkets and Koroni's medical center.In less than a 10 minute walk you reach the beautiful bathing beach, Zaga, 2,5 km of golden sand and clear blue waters.This beach is home nesting Loggehead Turtles who come back every year at summer to lay their eggs.If you are lucky being on the beach at the right time it is possible to see the hatchings rushing to the sea.From the house you can stroll down the cobbled streets of the village.Through them you reach the centre of Koroni's town where are many restaurants,bars,cafe's,fresh fish shops, baker's as well as craft and souvenir shops.Each visitor of Koroni must visit the Venetian castle built in the 13th century.It is a sample of Venetian fortress architecture.Going up to the castle the view is unique.Inside there are houses and church temples such as Panagia Eleistria.Starting in May through Ocrober Koroni hosts a music festival and there are 1 or 2 concerts per week.For your daily trips you can visit other traditional villages such as Foinikounta(20km), Methoni(30km), Pilos(38km), wetland of Yalova with the famous beach called Voidokilia(52km) as well as the beautiful city of Kalamata.
