The road from Karterados leads to Karterados or Exo Gialos beach, a remote beach with black volcanic pebbles and dark blue, crystal-clear waters. Additionally, the beach has got impressive rock formations, a result of the salt and the air that shaped them, which along with the black volcanic sand forms an unusual, extraordinary landscape. Today Karterados is a peaceful, scenic village with interesting architecture. As you walk along the quaint, paved paths you will meet the traditional, old cave houses built in a gorge. In the central square you can admire a beautiful windmill and a memorial plaque for the fallen in World War II. Close by there is a tennis club.
