The name of the bay is connected to Homer's Odyssey. According to the description by Archilochus, Coiranos lived in Paros and loved traveling and animals. On one of his journeys, he saved some dolphins that had become entangled in fishermen's nets by buying them and releasing them into the sea. When his ship wrecked on his return trip to Paros, one of the dolphins he had saved reciprocated by rescuing Coiranos from the waves and carrying him to the tranquil bay of Syros, which has borne this name ever since. Delfini is a bay located on the western part of the island of Syros. It is very close (about 1 kilometer) north of Kini and 11 kilometers from Ermoupoli. Access to the area is possible from Kini either on foot via a coastal path or by road following the relevant signs. Additionally, a caique that runs regular routes in the summer from Kini to the inaccessible beaches of the northwestern parts of the island also stops at Delfini Bay. During the summer months, the area is inhabited by vacationers who own holiday homes, and there is a café and a tavern on the beach. Opposite the bay is a small rocky islet, which shares the same name as the bay.
