There is plenty to do and see in this part of Crete with many beautiful blue flag beaches just a short drive from the Villa. You can sample Cretan Cuisine at many of the local tavernas, enjoy water sports facilities, ancient sites, mountain villages and beautiful walks. The lively cosmopolitan town of Agios Nikolaos is just a 10 minute drive away and provides yet more restaurants and bars and a lively night life. There are plenty of supermarkets within a 10 minute drive for keeping stocked up.

Villa Carolina is a beautiful Villa recently refurbished to the highest standards, situated in the Mirabello Bay, 6km east of the popular town of Agios Nikolas, and with spectacular views of the Thripti Mountain Range. The popular seaside town of Istron is just a few minutes drive in the car with lots of tavernas and the beautiful Voulissima Beach (Golden Beach) as is the popular sandy beach of Ammoudara. Just 20 minutes away is the mountain village of Kritsa , considered one of the prettiest villages in Crete, with beautiful streets and shops, restaurants and tavernas, and the nearby ancient Dorian settlement of Lato. For the more adventurous, there is a beautiful drive from this Village to the Plateau of Katharo and for the even more adventurous one can drive from there to the Plateau of Lassithi. Access to beautiful mountain walks in the Thripti mountains is a 20 minute drive to the village of Kavousi and a short walk leads to the worlds oldest Olive tree at 3250 years old which has national monument status. The popular bay of Elounda is a must see 20 minute drive with spectacular views over Mirabello Bay. Elounda is a picturesque bay with lots of sea front restaurants and shops. This bay used to be the refuelling stop for sea planes on route from Britain to India due to its calm sheltered flat waters. Take a ferry to the ancient fortress of Spinalonga Island from here or from Plaka Elounda.
