Welcome to Villa Eleni ! Villa Eleni is near Agia Galini on the south coast of Crete - about 90 minutes from Heraklion airport, and 2 hrs from Chania. Villa Eleni is a 3 bedroom modern villa with a swimming pool, in a secluded rural location with stunning sea and mountain views. Great for the relaxing summer break away from it all! Ideal for the family holiday, and stargazers! This purpose built villa is an ideal escape, with nice views, a pool and ideal for families. The Villa has all modern conveniences - AirCon, cooker, fridge, microwave, TV and video, WiFi, mains water, septic tank sewage (please note as with all Greek properties, no toilet tissue or other rubbish should be put down the drains, but the associated bins should be used.) You will need a car as the villa is about 90 minutes from both Chania and Heraklion airports. We have an arrangement with a car hire company - CreteCars. The village with restaurants is 3km away and the nearest beach about the same. It is possible to walk to the village and back. If you have any special requirements please do let us know in advance. Sally and Martin welcome you to their home from home. We built this house as a retreat for ourselves and make it available to guests as well. We have a great number of returning guests, year on year, many have become friends. Agia Galini is a friendly and beautiful village on the south coast and is the home of the story of Icarus and Daedalus. I am into photography and this is a great location to make very creative shots. On moonless nights, the skies are very clear with great views of the Milky Way.

The village is 3Km downhill (walkable but we do recommend car) and has shops, restaurants and travel agencies. The surrounding hills are beautiful to walk or cycle. The nearest beach is Giorgios, with its nice beach bar, or the Town beach, but other nice beaches are nearby, such as Pavlos (our favourite) and Kommos. Close to us are the ancient ruins of Phaestos, Agia Triada, Kommos and the ancient capital of Crete, Gortys. Also the Prevelli monastery is nearby in Kalo Limones, as is the church of St Paul, rumoured to be where he arrived in Crete on his travels. All well worth taking the time to visit. Also don't miss the opportunity to visit Spilli and the ancient water springs in the market square, dating back to roman times, and the herb gardens. The Fortezza and pretty backstreets at Rethymno are not to be missed. It is possible to walk up Psiloritis, the highest peak in Crete, but is an 6-8 hour walk each way (from the observatory), and only for the fit! Chania old town and the nearby Minoan, Roman and Venetian ruins at Aptera are about 2 hours away, but worth the day trip when combined with the amazing beaches at Georgopolis.
