Just at a distance of 7km away from Zakynthos town & from the airport, Maxairado village is set amongst green lush landscape with a fragrance of olive trees in the air. Its geographical location makes it a good starting point for exploring the beauties of the island! This area of Zante is almost untouched by tourism and guests will have a sense of Zante rural lifestyle based on agriculture. Maxairado village is known for the 14th Century, Church of Agia Mavra, one of the oldest churches on the island with its Venetian steeple and splendid frescoes and icons. Celebrations in honor of Agia Mavra usually take place the first weekend of July, when the whole town gets together to dance in traditional customs and eat delicious barbequed food. In the village you will find a post office, a small café/snack bar, mini markets & several houses very near the square.
