What makes our guesthouse special is the location. Our guesthouse is located in a peaceful and quiet neighbourhood, in the Bay of Maestral, which is one of the most prestigious parts of the city. The old villas from the Belle Époque period are still amazingly beautiful and many of them with wonderful gardens. In front of one such villa you can see the Sphinx of Zadar! Our guesthouse is next to this small park where lies the Sphynx. There are not too many sphinxes in this part of Europe left, but this is the biggest of all. It is also a very special Sphinx since it was built in memory of a beloved woman: it is said that it grants love wishes.

Although our house is situated outside the city crowd, you are close to all of the attractions of the old city. You can get to the center (peninsula) in 15 minutes by taking a small rowboat, which is cheap, or by foot across the bridge which takes about 25 minutes. The tradition of the rowboat is very long, from the 14. century and it remained one of the attractions of the city today. Before the „barkajoli station“ there is „Maraska“, a famous factory where Maraschino was produced for centuries. Maraschino is the original and noble liqueur originating from Zadar, made from a special sort of sour cherries that grow only in the Zadar area. What gondoliers mean to Venice, barkajoli (row boatmen) mean to Zadar! They have been connecting the two ends of Zadar´s harbor with their small rowboats in any weather conditions, and in so doing have saved the time of their faithful passengers. This tradition has been passed on from father to son for centuries and has survived despite the challenges of modern times. We are also close to the most beautiful beaches in Zadar (Borik, Puntamika, Diklo, Uskok) that you can reach in 15 minutes by foot.
